There is nothing better than getting lost in the alleys of Brera, especially during the Milan Design Week. Also with regard to carpet design, there are some unmissable addresses in the Brera area!
- Nodus Rug, Chiostro della Facoltà Teologica dell’Italia Settentrionale, Via Cavalieri del Santo Sepolcro 3;
Every year this place deserves to be visited, not only for the beauty and tranquility of the Cloister, but, above all, to admire the new collections of Nodus, an exceptional brand of handmade carpets.
Nodus rugs are characterized by great experimentation with shapes and patterns, and by the high quality of the materials used.
This year we fell in love with Collana, designed by Estudio Campana. Collana is born from the encounter between wool and wood and, instead of covering the ground, as one would expect from a normal carpet, it frames it, suggesting a void that becomes a potential place of expression.
- Dare to Rug, Palazzo Cusani, Via Brera 15;
In our guide couldn’t miss our favorite Romanian brand, Dare to Rug!
This year, Andreea Batros and Flavia Scînteanu bring to Milan their latest collection, Shade, born from the collaboration with the artist Ana Popescu.
The new collection is a translation of Ana Popescu’s graphic work on fabric: in fact, the 4 pieces of the collection derive from 4 acrylic drawings of the artist. So, Shade collection present the peculiarities of Popescu’s artistic research: a strong and contrasting use of color, used to investigate the relationship between light and shadow, light and dark. The games of contrasts recreated in the carpets have the strength to modify, to give movement to the space in which they are inserted.
Then, even if is not in the Brera area, we could not fail to recommend cc-tapis, in Piazza Santo Stefano 10.
This year the Milan showroom presents its latest works, born from the collaboration with 10 new designers: Patricia Urquiola, David / Nicolas, Martino Gamper, Germans Ermics, Maarten de Ceulaer, Jean-Marie Massaud, Cristina Celestino, Mae Engelgeer, cc- Design-Lab and Studiopepe tapis.
Thanks to this collaboration and to the great variety of colors, shapes, materials and styles used, once again cc-tapis reminds us of the extreme versatility and expressiveness that the rug is able to take.
